Custom Blended Biomass Fuels

The term “fuel pellet” generally refers to compressed wood pellets, made from the sawdust from sawmills. Canada exports millions of tonnes of this fuel annually to Europe and Japan, mainly from British Columbia and its forestry industry. There are many BTU-rich waste products that can be combined or blended together to create a fuel pellet. Typical target materials would be scrap lumber, shingles, rail ties or sleepers and certain field crops. These materials are ideal to create a fuel pellet or briquette, but are subject to certain environmental controls.  The key to this technology is the control of moisture and determining/maximizing the potential BTU value. When created, these pellets work equally well in existing gasification technology and pellet boilers, all without depleting our forests
